Kwame Alexander is a seasoned Construction and Business Development Executive with more than two decades of experience leading complex commercial, healthcare, education, and sports/entertainment projects across the Southeast. He is responsible for strategic client relationships, joint venture partnerships, brand growth, and workforce development initiatives.
In his role, Kwame collaborates closely with owners, trade partners, and community organizations to deliver landmark projects while expanding market presence and fostering sustainable industry talent pipelines. His leadership combines relationship-driven business development with hands-on project oversight and market strategy.
Previously, Kwame worked with Barton Malow Company as a Business Development Manager and Project Manager, supporting growth efforts throughout the Carolinas and expanding the firm’s reach into healthcare, higher education, K‑12, and commercial markets. Earlier in his career, he held project management and business development roles at RJ Leeper Construction, managing renovation and ground-up projects ranging from fast‑track medical offices to multi‑million‑dollar hospital expansions, hospitality renovations, and major public venues including professional sports facilities.
Kwame began his professional career with The Staubach Company, where he managed lease transactions and real estate services for the State of North Carolina, overseeing a statewide portfolio of government facilities. He also served as a Project Manager with Taylor Brothers Construction Company, developing infrastructure projects and leading business development initiatives in the public and private sectors.
A licensed attorney and member of the North Carolina State Bar, Kwame earned his Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is deeply engaged in civic leadership and nonprofit service, including board service with Clean Air Carolina and The Lynnwood Foundation, and remains active in community development, environmental advocacy, and workforce equity initiatives.
